Having trained in dance to a professional level in her teens and a brief stint of commercial work, Ruth went on to enjoy a 10-year career within the entertainment industry, working with some of the UK’s best known film and TV talent from an agency desk.
She found Sports Massage in 2006 thanks to an inspirational treatment and at that point decided to put her anatomical knowledge to better use and trained at the North London School of Sports Massage graduating with Credit in a Diploma in Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy. Understanding the pressures of professional dance training, growing up an experienced horse-rider as well as spending long hours in an office environment are useful tools in understanding and treating bodies from all walks of life.
Ruth's no-nonsense, deep tissue treatments are tailor made to deal with anything from day-to-day niggles, to sports injuries or general stress. She also teaches Pilates, lectures in baby massage and is often found treating principal dancers from The English National Ballet.
Ruth's philosophy is to take an holistic, multidisciplinary approach, treating the body and mind as a whole to find the root causes of problems and prevent their re-occurrence through treatment and exercise. Her unique touch and range of qualifications equip her as much more than just a "massage therapist" and her mindful yet thorough approach to bodywork has seen her become an incredibly sought-after therapist amongst professional athletes and city workers alike.
All practitioners at the Light Centre are self-employed. When making bookings, customers are contracting with them directly and not with the Centre. As a result, practitioners manage their own diaries, so please book with them directly.
